Styling Battle

Entering a Styling Battle.

Styling Battles are a core mechanic of Shining Nikki where Nikki must dress her best with the help of the player and compete in various situations. She may equip Designer's Reflections to help her complete the battle.

Styling Battles often require the use of Stamina.

Styling Battles may occasionally be skipped with the Auto button. The player may also be given to wear the highest ranking outfits with the Recommended button.

Battles feature four main icons to press that will allow Nikki to properly show off her outfit. Listed from left-to-right:

• Perfect Hairstyle (Icon shows a pink haired girl)
• Stunning Aura (Icon shows a dress)
• Brisk Pace (Icon shows high heels)
• Shiny Shiny (Icon shoes a hat)

The player must press these icons when they glow during the battle.

There is an additional fifth icon in the bottom right corner of the screen that displays Nikki's current Designer's Reflection. Every Reflection will glow at one point during the battle (each glowing at different times, depending upon the Reflection) and the player must tap the Reflection to summon it and use its power in battle. Once summoned, it cannot be summoned during that battle again.

Styling Battles typically offer rewards, which differ depending upon the battle. For most stages, this includes:

• Gold
• Memory Key: R
• Memory Key: SR
• Poetry of Time
• EXP
• A specific clothing item

Upon completing a Styling Battle (that hasn't been skipped), a random NPC may comment on Nikki's performance, including Momo and any Designer's Reflection equipped.

Styling Power

Styling Battles are won by increasing one's Styling Power.

Battle Types

There are two different types of battles, one that pits Nikki against a designated NPC opponent and another that does not.

Opponent

Foes may have the ability to lock the player out of pressing the main four icons. Some may only lock one icon, that being the one the player needs to press for points. Others may lock all four. Some locks last longer than others. If an icon is locked, it will be grayed out with chains crossing over it to form an X, with a lightning symbol placed where the chains cross.

Team

The Auto option can be selected to automatically select the best options during the Styling Battle.

Assist mode allows the player to aid another player in a battle without using any attempts. However, they will receive no rewards.

Momo may recommend the wrong Designer's Reflection.
