Styling Power is a type of energy utilized by stylists and designers in Shining Nikki. Knowing about Styling Power is an important standard for stylists.[1]
Every piece of clothing has different stats, and stylists must collect them to enhance their Styling Power.[1] There are different categories of clothing, such as hairstyles and makeup. But unlike all other categories of clothing, makeup does not add to overall Styling Power.
Styling Power focuses on one of the five main attributes at a time and items that utilize Styling Power will have higher stats for that main attribute over the other four. For example, the Twinkle Twinkle (Dress) is considered a Sweet item because its highest stat is Sweet and all its other attributes have lower stats than its Sweet stat.
Styling Power is used in various situations, such as in Styling Battles, Styling Challenges, and Photoshoots.
Designer's Reflections[]
Designer's Reflections are a staple of Styling Power that all stylists should know about.[1] They will boost your Styling Power by a certain percent, depending on what type it focuses on and depending on its level and rank. Also, a Designer Reflection especially will give your Styling Power a boost if the set (or parts or the set) that is connected to the Reflection is being worn. For example, you could wear a combination of Icy Pink Culottes, White Cat Lady, and Cotton Candy Top, which initially would have more Styling power than just wearing the Twinkle Twinkle dress, but along with the Leonid's Designer Reflection Twinkle Twinkle would actually have more Styling Power since it is part of the Twinkle Twinkle set (designed by Leonid). Finally, the higher a Reflection is, the better. An UR reflection would work better usually than a R or SR reflection.
The legendary designer Leonid is famous among those in the fashion industry.[1]
Themes[]
Stages will often have assigned themes, in which the player must create an outfit related to the stage's theme that maximizes their Styling Power. The theme is typically determined based upon the dialogue directly preceding the stage. The player can check the stage's theme in the Dressing Room mode that appears right before they enter a stage.
These themes often do not factor heavily into gameplay. For example, the theme for V1: Stage 1-4's Styling Battle is Street Style. However, the player is not required to dress with clothing pieces under any particular tag to win and the theme does not affect the player's overall Styling Power or Battle Rating.
Momo's Styling Guide[]
Momo's Styling Guide first appears in V1: Stage 1-7. This Styling Guide appears for Styling Battles, Styling Challenges, and Photoshoot stages in many different modes, such as in Main Story, in COLOURS Newsroom, and other such features.
Momo will take into account various boosts to Styling Power (such as clothing items gathered, Designer Reflection's available, Stylist Academy scores, etc.) and then will calculate the player's estimated Styling Power. Momo will also offer his own Recommended Styling Power for the stage. Momo will then state the estimated outcome for the stage, including: Failed, Pass, Straight A, and Full Marks.
Momo's Styling Guide may include marginal errors.
Different Factors[]
- Designer's Reflections
- Stylist Academy scores
- Clothing stats
- Designer rank
- Designer upgrade
- Concept upgrade
- Bond with Nikki
- Makeup Study
Effects[]
Styling Battles (and possibly challenges) are noticed by others within the world of Miraland. In V1: Stage 1-4, numerous citizens of Flowerland crowd around Nikki following her first public Styling Battle on her journey.
People can be pulled into Styling Battles without warning. In V1: Stage 1-5, a random woman pulls Nikki into a Styling Battle to observe her Designer's Reflections.
On Opponents[]
In the world of Miraland, it is a little known fact that those with high Styling Power may have the ability to change their opponents. Nikki's first Styling Battle with a "Scornful Youth" influenced the latter to apologize after confronting Nikki with a Styling Battle.[2]
On the User[]
Those that wield Styling Power may feel a strange power during battle.[2]
Trivia[]
- Although Flowerland is a small town, it has a huge fashion industry and regularly holds design and coordination contests. These supposedly serve as an excellent way to increase Styling Power, but are not necessarily featured in gameplay.[1]
